Octavus Agents retain recent context as they work. Their built-in Sleep task helps them consolidate that information so their memory stays useful over time.
Why recent memory needs maintenance
Agents can save information, facts, and events from their work throughout the day. That recent context is useful, but it can accumulate.
An Agent manages this much like a person does: it sleeps.
Keep the Sleep task enabled
After you hire an Agent, open its schedule. You will find a special item called Sleep.
You can edit or delete this task, but we recommend keeping it enabled. Sleep gives the Agent a regular opportunity to organize what it has learned while working.
Sleep is part of an Agent's schedule. Review it when you review the rest of the Agent's recurring work.
What happens during Sleep
During Sleep, an Agent consolidates its memories:
- It cleans up information that does not need to be retained.
- It moves important information into long-term memory.
- It keeps its working context cleaner for future tasks.
This lets the Agent manage its own memory while preserving the information that matters to your organization.
