See how an Octavus Agent's computer works. Agents do knowledge work on a computer, and you can watch or take control of that computer at any time.
Why Agents have a computer
Anybody doing knowledge work typically needs a computer. The same is true for Octavus Agents. The computer is the Agent's workspace, and dedicated computers persist across operations and threads.
Watch the computer
- Open the Computer tab to see the Agent's desktop at any moment.
- Take control and navigate the computer yourself if you need to.
- Return to the Agent's work when you are done.
Choose or update a computer
You usually pick a computer during hiring. You can also change it later.
- Open the Settings tab.
- Select Computer.
- Choose a different computer and update it from there.
There are a few options:
| Computer | When to use it |
|---|---|
| Dedicated Linux computer | The usual recommendation. Persistent workspace for most work. |
| Dedicated Windows computer | When you need Windows apps or a Windows environment. |
| Your own Mac | When you need a Mac in a specific location. |
| Temporary computer | Only for a quick demo. It is not persistent. |
Use a dedicated computer unless you have a specific Windows or Mac need. Avoid temporary computers except for a short demo.
